Pear wood has a unique color in the core similar to the color of salmon and a bit of pink also.  Pear has a light fruity smoke that is excellent for cooking all foods.

We also have bags of Texas mesquite and Pecan cut from the Cross Timbers region of the United States.  Pecan is one of the most underrated woods available and does a amazing job for cooking.  Pecan is also excellent in the winter time for your fireplace.

Have you ever considered using wood chips in your grill or smoker?  Using wood chips allows you more control over the amount and types of woods in your firebox.  Some competition BBQ cookers also find wood chips are easier to work with.  On occasion, chefs like to soak the chips in water or even wine to create a different aroma to the food and meats they are cooking.

Another firewood that creates an interesting smoke is the native Oklahoma Osage Orange tree.  When the wood is deprived of oxygen in the firebox, it tends to spark.  This is not a problem if it is in your smoker firebox and the lid is shut.  But, it may not be suitable for a winter fireplace unless you have a fireplace screen for protection.  Grilling and smoking pork is excellent with our native Oklahoma orange tree.

Mulberry is another fruit tree that is very plentiful here in the Cross Timbers region.  Mulberry is highly popular in other parts of the United States, but it is extremely common here in Oklahoma City.  We do have mulberry wood in stock here at GrowOKC Firewoods of Oklahoma City.

SIZE OF A RICK: We sell firewood by the national measurement of a cord which is 4 feet high x 4 feet wide x 8 feet long. In Oklahoma, a “rick” is approximately 1/3 of a cord.  One rick is called a “face cord” and  is a stack that is 17″ wide by 4′ tall by 8′ wide.  Mathematically there are 2.8 Oklahoma ricks in one cord.  Don’t let people tell you there are only 2 ricks in a cord, it’s not true.

What a creative way to get seeds into a hard to plant area.  They are called seed bombs and are similar to seed tape.

These are called seed bombs and they are made with flour, water and organic seeds.
